A series of dramatic and miraculous events filled her life, including an exciting tale with her uncle Saint Beuno, a wicked Prince Caradoc and a miraclulous spring of water which is visited in Wales today, named Holywell.
Her incorrupt body and shrine was destroyed by order of Henry VIII and Cromwell but Saint Winifred's Well remained in Catholic hands throughout the persecution and was visited by many of the reformation Martyrs.
It is known as the Lourdes of Wales.
